Tend support
Use this page to install Tend, understand permission and edition boundaries, troubleshoot scans, and contact the publisher. Never email an API key, password, diagnostic file, or personal file unless support explicitly requests a redacted example and you choose to share it.
System requirements
- macOS 11 or later.
- Apple Silicon or Intel Mac.
- Additional access may be required for folders or system evidence protected by macOS.
- An internet connection is needed only for user-triggered external features such as Gemini or a manual release check.
Install and first launch
Use the Mac App Store build when available, or download the latest signed release from GitHub Releases. For a direct download, move Tend to Applications and open it normally. macOS may ask for folder, microphone, speech recognition, or other permissions only when the related feature needs them.
Verify direct downloads against the published SHA256SUMS.txt file.
Why a scan is partial or unavailable
Tend reports permission failures, timeouts, offline cloud items, unavailable hardware counters, and unsupported macOS evidence as partial or unavailable. It does not convert missing evidence into a measured zero.
- Select a narrower folder if a storage scan takes too long.
- Make cloud files locally available before expecting them in filesystem totals.
- Grant access only when you understand why the selected feature needs it.
- Cancel a long scan from its progress panel; completed results should remain unchanged.
Cleanup and recovery
Review the cleanup preview and confirmation before continuing. Supported removals go to the Trash and may appear in Recovery Center. Do not empty the Trash until you are confident the files are no longer needed. Actual free-space change may differ from the reported moved size because of filesystem accounting, shared blocks, caches, and concurrent activity.
Mac App Store edition
The App Store build runs in Apple's sandbox and accesses user-selected folders. It does not provide system-wide cleanup, app removal, process control, startup-item changes, or third-party app-update checks. These are deliberate platform and safety boundaries, not failed permissions.
Gemini Assistant and dictation
The optional Assistant requires your own billing-enabled Google Gemini API project. Review the shared-context preview before sending. The key stays on your Mac and should never be sent to Tend support. Dictation requires Apple's on-device speech recognizer; audio is processed in memory, is not recorded, and only the editable text is sent if you press Send.

Diagnostics and bug reports
Use Tend's diagnostic export when available. Review the report before sharing it; Tend redacts the home directory and host name, but you remain in control of the exported file. Include the Tend version, macOS version, Mac model, affected page, steps to reproduce, and any visible error message.
Report reproducible software issues through GitHub Issues or email admin@learnhubplay.nl.
Security and accessibility
Send security reports privately to admin@learnhubplay.nl rather than opening a public issue. Read the Security Policy for scope and response goals.
For an accessibility barrier, include the app screen or web page, Tend and macOS versions, assistive technology, and the problem encountered. See the Accessibility Statement.
