AI Transparency Notice
What it is
Tend includes an optional Google Gemini assistant for Mac maintenance explanations and proposed steps. You are interacting with AI whenever the Assistant tab identifies a response as AI-generated - Google Gemini. Tend is not the foundation-model provider.
What is sent
Only after setup acceptance and a user action, Tend sends the disclosed Mac status summary, your question, and up to 16 visible chat messages directly to Google's Gemini API under your own billing-enabled project. Tend does not automatically attach file contents. Shared Context is a local preview. Dictation audio remains on-device; only edited text you submit can be sent.
Eligibility and provider terms
The integration is for users aged 18 or older. Google's current terms require Paid Services for API clients offered in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Review the Gemini API Terms, logging policy, and Google Privacy Policy. Google/project settings determine provider retention; Tend cannot change them.
Limits and human control
- Output can be incorrect, incomplete, or fabricated. Review it before acting.
- Do not submit secrets, passwords, API keys, confidential data, special-category data, or personal data about another person.
- Do not use Tend for medical, legal, financial, employment, credit, insurance, education-admission, law-enforcement, migration, or other high-impact decisions.
- Tend makes no solely automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects.
- An AI proposal cannot execute itself. Supported actions require a separate, short-lived approval and keep native safety confirmations.
Provenance, records, and control
Responses have visible and machine-readable provider labels. Chat exports preserve AI provenance and an inaccuracy warning. Tend stores no chat on a Tend server. A bounded local Privacy Ledger records only contact purpose, outcome, and field-category names. Reset Key removes access; Delete All Tend Data removes the key, acceptance state, schedules, preferences, and app-managed local histories.
